Story: Coming all the way from South Africa, Chassidic House Party’s vocalist Choni Goldman (aka Choni G) is an international sensation. With singing playing at integral role in his life from an early age, Choni grew up as a child soloist in the Sydenham Shul Choir and had already appeared in concert with the Jewish Superstar Mordechai Ben David by the time he was eleven years old.

He was Choirmaster of the Pretoria Shul (South Africa) for 3 years and has served as Chazzan (Cantor) at Sandton Shul & Chabad of Sandton in Johannesburg, the historical congregation B’nai Abraham in Philadelphia for a number of years over the High Holidays, and most recently for Chabad Glen Eira, Australia.

In 2007, Choni toured as a backup vocalist with Matisyahu, arranging all the vocal harmonies for his USA 2007 summer tour.

Back in South Africa, Choni is the lead singer for Danny K’s ‘Toy Soldiers’ party band. Choni opened for the renowned singer Ya’akov Shwekey in 2011 and, by popular demand, was on the bill this past year in both Johannesburg and Cape Town. He also accompanied American singer Dovid Gabay at the Yom Yerushalayim concert this past year in Johannebsurg. His first solo concert at the Joburg Theatre in June, ‘Choni G Unplugged,’ was sold out well in advance and was greeted with acclaim by critics and the public alike.

So how did Choni get to Chassidic House Party? He just completed a stint as Cultural Officer at the Israeli Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. While there, Choni won the International ‘Jewish Star’ Singing competition in New York this past March. Deciding to broaden his performing horizons, Choni recently moved to Brooklyn where he met up with Daniel Berry through the Chassidic House Party’s bassist, Choni’s younger brother Nissen.

Combining his free flowing style and comfortable stage presence, Choni brings his smooth vocals and sophisticated style to Chassidic House Party for a refreshing sound like no other.
